4.2L Turbo diesel fuel economy?
4.2L Turbo diesel fuel economy?
Hey i'm curious to know the fuel economy for a GQ Patrol Ute with 4.2L turbo diesel?
Cheers

Mine is the high roof LWB and it's an auto, so it chews about 19L/100Kms, and that turbo is an aftermarket version that isn't running very happily with my engine.
But mine's very excessive, most here run way better than that, so don't go by mine as a guide.
However, last month mine had it's engine rebuilt with newly honed bores, new pistons, etc etc. And culminated in reco'd injectors, so I'm expecting an improvement. But haven't yet had time to run a couple of full tanks through it to see what difference it made.
You'll have to get way better than I was getting if you're in a ute, with a manual transmission

Mate, Like I said, mines an automatic, that adds to the thirst massively.
It's also got a forehead on it that makes one major extra piece of wind resistance, and thirdly, I suspect issues with the autotrans, so probably far from one to make judgements by.
I've seen many here claim economy equivalent to my mates fairmont wagon, at around 15L/100Kms. So wait till you get a few more replies.

I've had an 02 st coilcab for a few months, and the most i've managed out of both tanks which i beleive to be 170litres is 1250k + reserve. Bit different to the old 3litre 4cyl i had before.
So whats that 13.6 litres/100? Thats foot to the floor acceleration and 40% time at 2500revs (110kph) with empty woodenfloor steel tray and a passenger.

man, you turbo guys sound like you get better economy than me in my naturally asthmatic TD42.
I used to get about 12L/100km bog stock (no lift on 31's) then once i lifted it it changed slightly but stuff all, but with 33's (yes i did adjust for speedo correction - it is actually correct to the GPS on 33's) it uses about 14L/100km - sometimes worse, especially if i've been in low range doing stuff.
hmmm maybe a turbo is the go.......yeas.
cheers
