dual cab paj?
Moderator: -Scott-
dual cab paj?
hi, does anyone know of a ute chopped paj. ive done plenty of searches but cant find any gen 2 utes. I need a ute now but dont want to lose the paj.
im still un decided on a duel cab or king cab style chop, any ideas?
looking at the paj it looks like a duel cab would be alot easier due to the doors closing around the 'b' pillar not to mention the front seats sit further back then the pillar.
the only problem i have with the duel cab is i dont want the tray to be sticking out half a mile like you see on some 80 utes.
cheers

UTE
either way mate, do it, scheriously, do it.
keep us updated on the chop if you do end up doing it, iv been toying with the idea of buying another a toy paj, shortie, uting it, and sas, but this is all in my dreams. Iv got the funds sitting in the bank, but theyre "savings" so i dont feel like blowing them. Give me time, i think ill have one soon. Either that or maybe a gen 2 shortie softtop body on a gen 2 lwb chassis, i like the ute style softtops, cos nothing has to be done. Just a tonneau cover and back wall from canvas or the like and doneskies. Something like Nittebergs shortie. Have fun and good luck mate,
there use to be a pretty sweet pic here that twinnie did in photoshop, shortie ute over big green meenies comp truck, looked sweet, cookie still has a few pics there of a few creations im sure hes dreamed of,

Gotta agree - that chop does look verySpimon_NH wrote:I'm not a fan of the dual cabs or style sides, but I'd chop mine into klrevo's cab chassis (the yellow chop) in a second if I thought I could make it look like that!
Hmmm. 2.8tdi JTop import, chopped by Dean, custom tourer canopy.
Already have the wheels/tyres/front diff lock...
paj
yeh i like the look of the chop i did on bubsies swb hilux, the one on mine i rekon looks alright too but, pretty much just a jtop without its roof, which is exactly what i want now. In a little time, im thinking exactly what scotts thinking, somthing along the lines of a SAS jtop td, uted into something like nittebergs truck. I rekon theyd make for a real competitive beast, something like Overkill or his brother had. J Top, come move to aus to do some SAS.

Especially when I'm about to move out with 2 car nut friends. Me being an engineering student, another one a mechanic and the other a plain car freak we'll be sitting round with no money, bored, thinking of something to do and *wham* I'll have a Pajero ute on my hands.
klrevo, that white pic with the tube tray looks f*&k'n nuts. i like your idea of the swb body on lwb chassis.
might be time to get out the measuring tape

k, got some time off work and decided to get off my arse and go see the boys at arb. They told me about Dekker motor body builders. so off i went. Michael Dekker said he had never done a ute conversion on a paj b4 but was more then willing to do it.

$5500 - with no tray
i had a look at his GU and the tray looked good but i wouldnt mind a simple tube tray wich a friend can build for me.

yeh like i said, im not sure what the wb of a lwb paj is, you could do it with that and sas the front, but a swb is about 96" im pretty sure, add another 4 or 5" and most ppl would say youve got the perfect wb. When mine gets a bit older, and weve finished travveling this great land, i seriously think about lengthening the wbe on the paj and chopping it into something and sas the front, for now hes as capable as well need towing a trailer

Re: paj
96 1/4 to be exact but your right you would not want any more than 101 or 102" if your running 37'sklrevo wrote:but a swb is about 96" im pretty sure, add another 4 or 5" and most ppl would say youve got the perfect wb
LWB has a 107" WB. yeah i'm still thinking about it, but with a kid on the way now its gonna be a while...klrevo wrote:yeh like i said, im not sure what the wb of a lwb paj is
He who laughs last thinks slowest.
just picked up a 88 d/cab lux off a mate. has heaps of mods done already, so the idea of a duel cab paj is out the window atm.
dont worrie the paj will still be no.1 and now i dont have to thrash it using it for work
