Is the GU 3.0 and 4.2 box really the same??

Post by Hallie »

Was just reading an old post and someone said that the 3.0 and 4.2 GU gear boxes were the same. I thought this to, untill recently seeing a nissan brochure which listed the to boxes as having different ratios.
Is this the only difference?

Also on the topic is the GU 4.2 box different to the GQ 4.2

Thanks in advance.

Nope the 4.2L and the 3.0L Diesel boxes are totally different, the 3L TD uses the same box as the 2.8L diesel which is the same as the 3L petrol box.

the GQ and GU boxes are slighty different but you can put a GQ box into a GU and Vice versa, just the bellhousings are different i believe
