Hi Guys
I am getting a little confused what oil to use in the transfer case on a '93 Jack with an auto.
I have a preferance for Penrite and on the web and at Bursons they recomend MANUAL GEAR OIL 75 which i purchased. Now at home I am looking through the owners handbook and blow me away, it says to use engine oil Shocked

gear oil
BJ,
yep thats what the manual says to use, engine oil.
There are rumours that gear oil contributes to some of the g/box problems on the isuzu/holdens. Ive used both, was useing 90w gear oil until I read a few posts with negative views and finally got a workshop manual. I will say that I dont notice any difference either in noise or "feel"while changeing gear between the 2 different oils.
Use the engine oil and change it regularly, cant do any harm.

In the manual box's using 80-90w oil will make it shift like a dog. In the trasfer i have never seen it done and cause issues, but still i would follow the manufacturers recomendations.
