Vitara at the Cape

Post by bugden23 »

G'day,

I have a LWB vitara with a 2" lift kit with slightly larger tyres and front and rear difflocks. I'm hoping to make it up to cape york sometime, i was wondering if anyone has done the cape in a vitara, and if its possible?

I'd plan to have a snorkle fitted before i left along with a dual battery set up.

any advice woudl be useful[/img]

there's no reason why you can't take the Vit up there. You'd just have to be good at packing your camping gear and spares etc.

Yes you can get a Vitara to the very top of Cape York even via the Telegraph Track. We have a 93 LWB with 31 Silvertone all terrains, 3 inch body lift and 3 inch suspension lift. We had come withs a 2000 Grand Vitara with the 2.0 4 cylinder with slight larger tires and the only problems that were had was either the beer cans and water containers spliting or exploding do to the shacking.

Just remember, be prepared.

Don't have any idea about the vitara part, but my cousin and uncle were up there a month ago with three cruisers and three 250 bikes, vibrations were the worst part, casualties were a lost wiper bottle from a cruiser and sway bar fell of one of the bikes due to the vibrations.

Only the bikes went down the telegraph track, but i don't know much about the conditions.

Damien said yo could make it up the bypass roads in a corolla if you wanted but it would be rattled to peices by the time you got back.

Cheers Greg
