Broken rear control arms on Gu!

Post by workmonday »

Got a Gu and broke a lower control arm on the weekend and made a mess. The pinion flange and tail shaft hit the chassis and also stuffed both rear shocks. I fitted up some cheesy bars today and new shocks and put the 32 AT's back on and went for a run and i now have a rear vibration at 70 kms at mid power in 4th, goes away when i back off or mash the pedal. Any ideas where it would be coming from? I assume i have bent the tailshaft, or the pinion, or stuffed the uni... Ideas please!

are the new arms adjustable if not are they the same length as the old ones. it sounds like an angle problem to me try adjusting the pinion angle. did the tailshaft shaft get damaged (dented or gauges) if so it could be bent spin it slowly in the car with wheels jacked up and check for runout

does it make a noise? if it does then possibly be the uni.

but i'm guessing pinion flange. I doubt it's the arms or the angle they are at.

I had a closer look at the top arms and have found that the diff mount on the right side is bent sideways about 30 mm and back 10mm. I also jacked the wheels off the deck and ran it and i believe the pinion flange is also bent. No noises present. Now the diff is out so i can get the oxy out and bend the mount straight hopefully.
Thanks guys.
