I thought it was 1 0.9kg DCP.

How do they check tyres out of gaurd? Do they do it from the top of the gaurd or all around? I have a 60 and at the top it flares out more than the bottom. The tyre would be flush with the top.

As for protusions does it matter if you have no front bar?

with the tyres, they normally put up a straight edge agains your tyre and if the straight edge touches top and bottom of your tyre and not the guard they will knock you back, so if its close, id say it would be wise to whack on some flares, just so you have no dramas on the day

With the tyres, we will not knock you back if the side wall bulges out side the guards. We would like to see the tread + contained in the flare.
We don't care about bar work at this stage but feel this will come with more and more buggy style vehicles coming in.
The Rules and Regs booklet is available on the website and dosen't generally change much from year to year. www.nissanpatrolclub.org

Thanks Miss Wendy.
Another question about the window nets do they have to be adr approved or will a piece of netting like they have in those childrens play centres work if I tec screw it to my door with a flat piece of ally bar and then cable tie it around my doors windo frame?

The reason I was asking about the bar was because on the 60 without a bar you have the chassis rails sitting out about 200mm will they be deemed as sharp edges. I also have my recovery hooks bolted on there.

Other than that I should be alright and looking forward to a good weekend.

Will your tracks scare the crapper out of me :?: I sure hope so :D

i used a piece of soccer goal net last year. and just screwed it to the bottom and cable tied the top and sides, it passed scrutineering OK, so im using it again. as long as you cant fall out of the vehicle and your nets are fairly stiff and can take a hit you will be right

Madmac is correct, we want to stop heads and arms coming out of the vehicle in the event of a roll. The net can be made of all sorts of things just as long as it passes a decent push by the guys at Class Verification.
The bar thing will probably see you get pinched by the RTA as a padestrian hazzard but we don't have too many pedestrians on the events and you will mostly be on different tracks to the public when travelling on the site, that and it is walking pace only.
Will you be scared....hell yeah. In my event -Wombats Revenge, the holes are so deep you can hear chinese folk music.

Sorry if it's been mentioned but can't find it yet...

I'm not driving after all, but am navi for our reserve truck (Discovery club - don't worry there's no rovers.) I haven't got a helmet yet, just wondering what the go is with helmets? Does it need to be full on motor sport? A hard bmx type open face or just a simple push bike helmet? I'm looking at the minimum requirement in regards to $.......

i dont think a pushy helmet will be accepted, i use a cheap open face motorbike helmet, costs $65 from any good motorcycle store, just make sure its aust. standards approved. if you are navi in reserve car, you may get away without one, just borrow one off the guys with the busted car that you are filling in for

I find the rules funny, its ok for the roof to get flattened on to you in a roll over as long as no arms come out via the side windows.

The rule should just be have your windows up at all times. The glass breaking in the side windows during a roll over is no different to the back windows, rear window, windscreen or 1/4 windows breaking.

How do other people that have shiney 4x4`s mount window nets without drilling holes?

One thing suggested to me (I think it was Madmac?) was to remove your door trims and attach the net at the bottom to the inner door (press studs for constant re-use) and tie the top on. Then when not competing you have your door trims on and no holes ;)

i just drilled mine and put in 5 big self tappers. it doesnt look bad when the nets are off. if you have a really bling shiny 4by you shouldnt be competing at the trials anyway, unless you have no respect for it. the nissan trials isnt the type event you want to be in if you are worried about how your rig looks.

Done them before mate, even got 3rd open before.
Rig did Vic Winch only 3 weeks ago and with a good wash would be shiney bling again. Will be washed fully after nissan trials has been and gone and it will not have bolts or holes in the bloody doors from window nets that do crap anyway

So yes you can do Nissan Trials, go hard and still have a shiney bling rig

the point i was trying to make is that IF you are going to drive hard, their is always the possibility of panel damage, it wasnt aimed at you either, it was more a general point to those considering having a go at these style of events. mine survived unscathed last year. but i saw a few that did get battle scarred.
some people have different ideas about shiny bling too. i keep mine clean and tidy, but i dont pour money into making it look bling. ive got a few dings in mine anyway. i certainately dont go out with the intention of trashing it either, but i do always remember that damage is possible.
Cya at the trials, come and say hello

This is funny coming from you Guts, the only one that is having wrist restraints. Guys don't like to drive with the windows up and its the mid summer with temp in the 30's. And what do you do with the guys that don't have windows, or doors, or a roof or guards or.............
Anyway we have to look like we are trying to look after competitors safety for insurance.

Thats fine. Just tell me at class verification so I can change the form for the PA. He look silly if he's talking about the wrong tyres.

Do I have to bring my rego papers and green slip with me?
As my girlfriend is letting me use her car and she has the papers in sydney (drummoyne) and I think i will be pressed for time to go and pick up the originals. Is it ok If I print off a copy for you?
You should also recieve a email from Mark (bw4wd) this evening with the details.

I dont mind as long as you still run the holes even if there is water in them.

If we could have it our way it would be only a few small showers And

Funny how at ozrock if you don`t have wrist restaints you DON`T drive, end of story :finger: yes this is a rule we have over werock :finger:

Oh and wendy you`ll be happy to know I have fitted window nets to my hilux and will see how I go with them this year. But if it posses a problem they will never be fitted again. Basicly I thought about it as if I was at your end, and thought I`d give it ago and see how I go. Its all about give n take. Was going to pm you about it tonight as I only did them last night.

cant say ive ever tried wrist restraints, what are they like, id imagine they would be a pain in the arse, how much movement do they allow, is their a max. ammount of length allowed for comps? i could imagine them getting tangled up around the wheel and the column. ive never ctually seen a set though. where do you tie them off to?
