What exeactly do you need to run 31's on a narrow track?
I have about a 3 inch lift and know that i will need gears but what else will i need?
Will i need a 1 inch body lift? Longer brake lines and stuff?

Built swb sierra, building a lwb sierra ute and have a dmax for family camping
youll only need longer brake lines if you lift it more. I have 31" tire's on my car with a 40mm ome lift and 30mm longer shackles, so about a 2.5 inch lift I reckon. they rub a bit at the moment on the steel wide track flares, im going to take these off and trim the inner gaurd slightly so if it does rub its on a smooth surface and wont cut up the tyres. you will also have to hammer the seam on the firewall down. unless you hammer the seam down it will always rub regardless of lift.

2" and 1" extended shackles, Hits underneath just on guards and chassis/ depending on rim offset.
Longer brakelines only if u need them now. Gears would help also, i am running 3.9s in the diff (ala std NT) and a 1ltr transfer.

MUPPET MAN is yours a narrow track?
I had 30's on it and it JUST missed rubbing when i put the extended shackels on!
So i would need some off set rims?
Dont need to extend brake lines?
CHUNKZ i have seen the vetuall lift thing but it looks hard! Is it? You can only do it to the front or back or something cant you?
Dont relly mind getting the angle grinder out if i have to !

Yep, F100 5 stud 4wd rims, just make sure the center bore is right size as there is a couple sizes.
not sure on offset, can measure if needed, i know there one of bigger ones.

Do a search on F100 in here, a few threads talking about offset and rims.
I think you will be fine with the lift u got, wait till u got tyres then work out where they hit.
Brake lines - if they r tight not then go for longer ones. if not your ok.

rubbing where? its a narrow track with widetrac diffs and widetrack flares. It doesnt rub on springs but i am a differnt setup in this respect. I cant see why wheelarch clearance would be any different though.suzuki boy wrote:MUPPET MAN is yours a narrow track?

Probably want get 31's for a while (1st year app) and i just got some 30 inch mudds but am CERTAINLY going 31's next time!

you should be able to fit it with the lift you have. On my narrow track with a just a very sagged 2" lift courtesy of king springs and 7" rims (-13mm offset?) on my 31" pedes just rubbed under compression in the top rear of the arches and on the lip of the arch/flare mount. Thats after baching the guards a lot and folding the wheel seam back a bit. With 1" shackles i reckon it would have been perfect. Ended up just dropping back to 30's coz it was rubbing enough to annoy me and didnt want any more lift or shackles.

Stay with the lift you have got, and do a virtual lift. You can do it front and back, and its not that hard. Plenty of info here for it. Clean up the seams and if it hits on uptravel, space your bumpstops out.

I have 31 peds under mine which measure close to a 32. They are on speedy rims with about a neg 20 offset.
I have a 3inch body lift and standard springs that sit flat(see pic)
i had to remove the standard front bumper bar mounts and use a hammer on a few spots, i have not cut any guards at all and onlt get minor rub on the chasis rail at full lock.

For starters check out HRZOOK's build up in the members section. Toysuzi is doing one of the nicest VL's Ive ever seen on here or anywhere else.
Also check out canberramav's and Markil's threads in members too. They also did nice write ups on the process.
Its basically chopping the guards out to what shape/size you require then welding up the holes you made. You can also leave tabs and rivet/slaz up the gaps although IMO welded is better. Do some reading before attacking your ride with the grinder and make up your own mind.

speedy is the brand. They cost me $60 each brand new, I was chasing a secondhand set and they were still asking $50 per rim.
If you want a massive offset i have a set of flipped rims which have a offset of neg60 which will make your sierra almost 100mm wider.

I got mine from Tyre Power, I got a quote from other places like canterbury wheel and tyre and they were asking around $80 each.
There is another brand out there that look the same but have a less offset and cost more.
