my work truck which is a 2.4 diesel hilux 88 model has developed a fair whine in 5th gear, 2nd not as bad and 3rd also bad. 1st and 4th seem ok at this stage.. does anyone have ideas bout cost to replace or reco or wat might be up..I would not attemped this myself as need back on the road asap. thanks very much for any help

mate just had a G52 rebuilt + clutch done, drive in drive out for $2.5K... you can pick up a replacement 2nd hand box for under $1k, but u dont know the history however u could change it over in a day easily... decent rebuild kits are around $400 off ebay, then finding the labour or doing it yourself...

its claimable on his tax.. but yes; i nearly dropped my beer and snag when he told me... :cry: :shock:

Considering a rebuilt one off ebay is up round $1500+postage and then the labour to R/R, then take into account maybe $300 for the clutch to be done not inc the R/R labour... yup, thats still allot of money :D

cheers mate.. not the news i was hoping for but thanks anyway.. mite try and find a second hand one and just take a chance i recon...
