STR Navara

Post by Struth »

I talked the father in law into buying an STR. Fitted his price range and I have heard good things about them. 3.0 TD 5 Speed.
When (or if) he gets it because he ordered it 5 months ago, is there anything he needs to look out for on these trucks, common problems, no good for towing etc. I hope not but it would be good to know as it's his first 4B and he already has purchased an off road camper for his fishing trips and getaways.

Yep STR he ordered passenger airbag so they can't give him one off the floor, has to be built. They found one over in WA with passenger airbag but the wrong color.

It's a company car on a lease in his name so he stopped at the 35k for the STR instead of the STX.

most comman fault, rear springs sag like crazy. we had an extra leaf put in ours. however i did notice that nissan has put an extra leaf in SOME navarras. not sure on models or dates as i've only seen one (stx) that had it.

just look after the oil. heaps of tales of the early ZD30 motors blowing up. not a problem with the later ones. however as the problem where oil rlated i would still look after it well.

they are good for towing. only thing that takes a while to get used to is the werid throttle. past half way dosn't do anything. you can get caught out thinking your a half throttle when in fact your a full throttle and try to pass another vechile.
