Bellhousing pattern

Post by 6.5 rangie »

do the 3.5, 3.9, and 4.6 all share the same belhousing pattern, Or does the ZF 22 and 24 share the same pattern?
The reason i ask is a mate of mine wants to put an injected Holden V8 into his P38 (4.6 HSE) but Marks tell us they don't do a kit to suit the 4.6 Auto bellhousing as they think its different from the 3.5 and 3.9. As far as i know its the same, any help would be great.

Yeah it is, but he'd have to change the trans case as it has the borg warner one i think (or whatever comes in a HSE P38). He'd love the T700 as he has his own Auto trans company and does 700s nearly every day.
Any advice Cloughy

Mmmm, sounds like ZF it is, might need to replace it with a hydraulicly controlled unit but, dont think you'll be able to control shifts otherwise, then he'll need to find out what mods you can do to the valve body to firm up the shift cause they're quite doey, if he owns a shop i'd say the rebuild would be easy :D

No, not so easy, you would have to change diffs as well as the centre is on the wrong side for an LT230.

So is the belhousing pattern the same?, Its the same box isn't it just a bit more heavy duty and electronically controlled.
