Snorkel Template for 80 series

Anyone got one I could borrow in Brisbane, got a second hand one and need template.

check around at the 4wd shops, they may have kept one from an install, or may be nice enough to open a new box and trace the templkate onto your car for a small fee.

I was chasing down a 60 series one a while back, they are available from safari at $55 (I'm gayer than aids!!!!)

what brand of snorkel is it?

i have a safari one, but is in hobart. if you have no luck close by might be able to help out somehow

I went down this road a couple months ago with a second hand Safari snorkel.
Mine was the older version so I couldn'd find a template anywhere as the shape is diferent to the new version and of course 4by shops only put on new shapes.

So I made my own template and install it perfectly.

Get some cardboard, cut the hole in it, slide on the snorkel, then trace the snorkel on the cardboard. Mark the line for the guard shape on the carboard, use as reference for mounting holes. Make the holes in the template to make sure all lines up.
Masking tape the guard up. Hold the snorkel on the guard to get the forward/ backward pillar mounting distance. Once you get that you tape the template to the guard alligning the panel crease, make all the holes, RE-MEASUER EVERYTHING 50 times BEFORE DRILLING. Then go to town, let rip (ever so slowly) with the 96mm hole saw. For all the mounting holes, use a sheet metal stepper drill. Awesome for sheet metal. Piff the A pillar plastic inserts that ARB use if you have them. Go to any bolt shop and use 5mm blind rivets.

Anyway, I did the above, it worked spot on. Didnt get it 1mm off. Oh and tape a heap of cardboard around the guard when you drill with the hole saw so just in case the worst happens and it catches, you wont end up with a bad spiral on the guard.

Yep, it's looking that way that I'll be making my own. Mine is the older model. I got a new one and found out it was different, before I drilled a hole. Bugger

What model Safari snorkel is your template for - the new version or the older one?

I'm in need of a template for a snorkel I just picked up on the weekend too and will find out Wednesday how much it is going to cost me for ARB to get one in for me.

sorry, haven't been around to much lately. i guess it is for the latest version, i only put in on the last few weeks, bought new from ARB stockist

i'll be in melbourne from late 19/11 to 24/11 if that helps
