VH45 into GQ

I'm part way though fitting ta VH45 into my GQ. So far I've shifted the cab back 75mm to clear firewall. I've sorted the auto, rad, engine mounts, exhuast and in the process of sorting drysump system. It is getting a Link plus ECU. I'm having problems with the power steering and to small extent the alternator. The plan is to fit the alternator at the top of the motor and hopfully fit the PS in the factory position. Can anyone help with what other people have done as I'm struggling with the PS? I'm not able to fit the PS on the driver side as there will be another pump fitted there with the current plan. (but that nay have to change)

On the one i did it was a q45 into gq and i moved the engine forward and put 2in body lift in the alternater sat right on the steer box so i spaced the box out 10mm also the pump i used was a rb25 single output style made a braket in standard location, the only drama i had was with the oil pump/filter housing touching the mount support i trimed it down to fit.
I used a Tb42 Automatic with Q45 bellhousing and custom convertor, made all mounts and had to get tailshafts made to suit new transfer location exhaust wasn't a drama as i had two t3 turbos and made custom manifolds to suit, Pitty I never got it goin and sold the conversion all the hard work done would have been a rip snorter.

I also got a question re the VH45 into GQ. It seems that the engine ends up further back than the original or the funny firewall is in the way. If I put dual transfer case in and leave the current transfer case in its original place will the engine move forward enough or too far forward?
Can you guys post some pics or PM me some pls. My engine is on its way from Japan and want to start prepping. I have taken on the task of trying to fit a 350Z 6 speed box in at the same time. Probably way too much effort but what the hell.

My engine is out of a Q45 and I'm using the Patrol auto with the Q45 bellhousing and torque convertor. All that is required is to have both Patrol and Q45 auto's and take the relevant bits from each and it will bolt to gether. The torque convertor is getting rebuild before things are permanently bolted up. What stall speed did you use?
I already have a 2" body lift so that's cool. With the dry sump setup it removes the oil filter so solves the problem with housing hitting the chassis rail.
Keeping the trans in factory postion makes some things easier and some harder. ie alternator hits chassis rail as the front of the motor is in line with the back of the steering box. There is the length of the steering box between the motor and the rad.

Sorry I should have added that you have no choice but to either shift the motor foward 75 to 100mm or shift the cab back. Mine is a comp truck so shifting back was best, if it was just a toy then I'd shift the motor foward as I this appears to be an easier option. ie better clearance for PS, alt etc. Cutting the firewall isn't an option as the steering colum mountings are in the way of the right head head.
When I know what the dry sump is going to be like I'll let you know. I'm not doing it as it is beyond me. I can hack the body chassis etc but fine mechanicals are left to someone who really knows.

I decided against the Terrano (Pathfinder) due to engine bay room. It would fit but it would be tight so I could see problems if I needed to do anything in the mud!
Wheelbase is 104". I've got 50x25x3 box lower arms and the uppers are adjustable. I'm thinking about an 'A' frame but I'll do that when the coil overs etc get put in. Chances are that will be next summer. It is the same truck I've done every comp in. It has just evolved a wee bit!
I really reconmend the wheelbase extension (and twin shocks) as the extra stabilty is amazing. It just keeps the wheels on the ground a lot more now. When I first did the cab chop, shifted the batteries and winch it became very unstable. It was to the point that when I put my foot down it would just lift the front wheels!
