Vitara Dual Battery Set up

Post by bugden23 »

G'day,

I've got a 94 vitara 4 door and i'm trying to put a dual battery kit on it. There seems to be room where the coolant resivour tank is sitting but it will obviously have to be a custom job to construct the tray?

Hasy anyone fitted a second battery to a vitara? If so how and where

cheers

I know Mark, Roadrunner I think his name is had a neat one on his. I've just planned one out on mine and i'm putting an Oddasey DC where the coolant bottle is and moving it to the back of the fan guard. I will need to weld up a bracket for it to sit on though but shouldn't be too hard.

What type of battery are you thinking of running and are you going the Rad-Arc Solanoid??

I havn't put a lot of consideration in to it yet, but most likely something a similar size to the starter battery and most liekly a deep cycle battery for runnigna fridge, lap top etc.

heres some pics of how I did mine (96 vit, has starter battery on the passenger side factory)

moved it to the drivers side like the early vits and made a bigger tray to fit the 120 AH/HR AGM in there, is a bit to tight a fit but its what I had

thanks for the pics,

does the air intake pipe still go right to the rear of the engine bay on the passenger side like on the earlier models ? Mine has the intake traveling almost to the rear of the engine bay which would mean the tray would have to be set out from the side a bit (like about 60 or 70mm)
