pinion oil seal 75 series

Post by rockcrawler31 »

i all.

i have a 91 troopy that blew the rear pinion oil seal. can anyone give me the run down on replacing it. i have a gregories but i can't find the make up torque for the flange bolt.

some q's

the flange nut has a bit that has been smashed in with a punch to lock the nut. how do you get this off, do you just give it large with a big cheater bar??

when you take off the flange, does the pinion all fall apart or can i just prize off the seal and replace.

when putting the flange back on do you just retorque to the setting specified or do you have to st backlash as well.

i am going to check that the breathers are clear so that i can eliminate my lockers as the source of the problem. any other suggestions to do while i have it apart to make sure i don't do it again or to determine if it was just the seals time to fail.
