Does anyone know what the story is with the Td5 oil change as described in the owners manual. To quote "To prevent any possibility of air locks in the oil pump, it is recommended that filter renewal is carried out AFTER the engine oil has been changed." Now maybe I've missed something here, or quite possibly have been doing something wrong for a while now. But I like the idea of draining all the oil so when I put in new stuff it doesn't mix with any old stuff that may be in the filter. Normally I would
1. Remove sump plug. Drain
2. Remove oil Filter
3. Replace oil filter and sump plug
4. Refill
Away I go. Have I been doing something wrong?

I asked my landy service guy about this, and he said that it is the official workshop practice.
However, I drain, swap and fill. I don't like the idea of getting that dirty filter oil into my nice expensive Penrite HPR5....
I never had any issues with air locks at all....
More important, is to make sure you change the centrifuge at the same time.

More important, is to make sure you change the centrifuge at the same time.
(1) the "dirty" oil in your filter shouldn't mix with the other oil - unless you atart the engine.
(2) there is still dirty oil sitting around in the engine to mix with your clean oil
(3) sounds like you are changing the filter too often - which is actually a bad thing - AFAIK the centrifuge collector should be changed more often than the main (full flow) filter. The main filter should not be changed before the specified service intervals as it gets more efficient as it collects particles. And there is no point changing the centrifuge early as it should have a constant collection rate.
