All I know so far is that Dean (Silver Patrol Wagon) got 1st for Class B and Allen (Redlands Wagon) got 3rd for Class B - Dean pleased the crowd with his jump of 5m something into the tyre pit

Had a blast, well done Pete and Crew.

First round of 5 stages was a bit slow and not so organised but Pete managed to iron out the bugs by the end of Day 1. We ran pretty well on Day 1 in Class C and with the exception of the tractor tyres drove everything easily. But by the night, courses were getting more and more chopped out. We were a little disappointed with our efforts on the night stages, but it turns out most were having the same sort of penalties etc (except the mighty Mog of course).

We ran first up on sunday and flopped on the second half of the first stage, recovered and went on to complete the track. On track three we managed to bust the front diff, think it is the crown and pinion. and that was us out for the rest of the weekend.

Mick won C class, Rolly second, and the white rangie was third. Top effort from the boys in the Rangie. Hope to see you guys out competitng in more events. Really enjoyed your company.

Awesome event... huge thanks to Pete for putting on such a great event.

Second in Class B went to another member on the site RVH96 in his GU Patrol Coil Cab.


I ran nav in a mates GQ Patrol shorty... we did alrigght first run, night run we had an awesome loop round, then on the first run in the morning we did fairly well untill on stage 3 we were pinged 100 points for a wrong direction when we did WORD for WORD what was explained to us... ah well thats life though.

Final run we had some strange drama on the rock... normally we piss it in unlocked, but the second half saw us have to stock, throw the lockers in and have a couple of tries... was really weird. We ended up hitting in the highest point of the second step of the rocks and got it easy as... weird.

Carnage for the weekend for Tim, the driver was a busted tail light and some panel damage on the muddy hill on stage 5. We also had a big hit coming down the top of stage 3 climb and ended up smashing the rear bar. Sheared a 14mm bolt head off.

All in all.... bloody good weekend out at what i think is one of the best 4WD parks around.

Experienced a steep learning curve over the weekend for our 1st comp. Congratulations to all the winners and place getters and special mention to Dean Silver GQ, Pete Yellow 80 and Ben White Rangie for your thoughts and encouragement over the weekend. Good show boys and to cityview for getting another entry level friendly event out there for us enthuasists.

No broken parts, no broken hearts just good experinece and a solid base to build upon. Had similar dramas with the rock, walked it first hit and then slid off it twice in the rounds to follow. I hate my carby! It was really the only thing that let us down and the EFI will definetaly be in for next time. Need to work on our startegic approach to the points deductions for next time, chicken out rather than loose 3 x attempt points and then a recovery etc and end up worse for wear.

With the teething bugs ironed out for the official rounds next year with regards to scoring technicalities, course definition for both competitiors and officials and timing issues i think this will be a great comp and close to Brisbane to boot!

Does anyone have the official final points scores for the whole field? Would be great to see where we placed relative to others in field.

That'd be me. Flopped right in front of the 4wd TV camera. I have it in film, but dont have a firewire cable for this PC to download it from my camera, so unless someone else has it, you'll have to wait for 4wd TV

had an absolute ball . the tracks were good fun and the other competitors all put on a great show .
thanks to pete and all the officials you all put in a huge effort well done .
congrates to mick and roger in the mog it was a pleasure competing with you and to all the other winners well done guys and galls .
we had a pretty good run all weekend and really enjoyed ourselves .
my son mitch who navied crapped his pants a few times but cant wait for the next one .

The prices quoted are the standard park fees 24/7 not specifically for the CityView 4x4 trial weekend. Those prices have been the same for a few months now , and werent increased to cater for the event as other parks do. I am sorry if anyone was confused. We also asked all spectators and competitors to phone and book , the fee structure would have been explained then if it wes asked. Again I appologise for any ambiguity.

Well done to Pete (Cityview ) ,as he said there would be problems,and he was right, but he addresed them and as the comp went on things only got better ,also a big thanks to all the officals who put in a massive effort to make it possible for us all to enjoy this event

This was our first entry into a comp and we have a lot to learn ,I want to thank all the other competors who gave us support and advice that made the learning curve not so steep.

Pesky Pete you are a top bloke ! I am sure if you hadn't had run over a black cat on the way to Cityview for the comp the points at the end would have been very differnt
Would love to do some more comps and will but as most people who saw ( or heard ) the White Rangie it still needs some bugs ironed out , (a bit over 2 weeks ago that was a standard Rangie with 205-16 tyers and a differnt engine ,this comp was its first drive anywhere since my son Ben has owned it !) I will also need time to recover from my cross-country running navi event up that dam hill to get another tail-shaft after we screwed the rear in half on stage 2

And last but by no means least in an act of real sportsmanship thankyou to Mog Rover for allowing the WhiteRangie past Mog so we could finish in time to allow me to drive the Red Rangie and not D.N.S

Panel work down the drivers side, mostly repairable and that which isn't Graeme of Suzisport is taking care of me with.

Fibreglass canopy, we'll see what the repair bill is, there's a rumour Riviera might help us out.

Rear gearbox mount, passenger engine mount all else clearable.

The reason for loss of power on Sunday was the Aisin carb being choked with crap loosened from the radiator system, hate hot water auto chokes! Seemed to clear up by the time we hit browns plains and would idle again, but not until the Suzisport guys flushed the system with pressure did it really run again.

Brakes have got me stuffed, they were rock hard on the pedal and not working real well when i was running back down the rock on Sunday, main reason i pulled.

Gear oil in the cab had leaked past the top seals when it was over, pooled in the boot and found a way in at angle on the rock, had me a bit worried.

Big kudos to Chris deBrueys for the cage.. it works! Century batteries barely leaked under the bonnet, and kicked it all back over sweet when we got her off the course, MIG didn't care either (gotta love milspec electronics).

So looks like the most damage was me, although the SAAS seats held me in place pretty well, brace with the legs, grip the wheel and watch the ground come say hello. Minor concussion (stars in the right eye monday morning), dehydration/heat illness and general soreness.

Top weekend, just would have appreciated a bit more shade around the place and easier access on foot from top to bottom for drinks.

Good crew of blokes running the show, and running in it, looking forward to next year.

Yeah it spends a bit of time at UQ, gets round to all the campuses as part of work.

Was good to get it on the tracks again, been a bit limited lately with family committments on weekends.

Appears i managed an award... best carnage in class B... fame after a fashion..

Just pulled out my front diff centre and it is not broken .

I did however smash two free wheeling hubs . Might be time for those lonfield cromo hub centres. When I thought I had smashed the centre I climbed under the car and tried rotating the centre and it was locked solid, so I assumed it was the diff centre. However........... because I am running an auto locker front, the reason the diff wouldnt turn is that the hubs were broken and had not unlocked, all the broken crap was stopping the axles from rotating.

So maybe my front diff as strong as I thought, and maybe I wont need that Ni$$an front end after all

Well done Pete we Had a blast, got bogged, got snatched (several times) but it was the first time I was dug out by a bulldozer, something to tell my grandkids, still picked up a prize in A class and very happy. Good to see Brett get down and dirty. Looking forward to next years events.
