just wonding what the common engine conversions are for a gq. currently at a 4.2 petrol.

I'm not being one of these smart arses on here who try to take the piss out of peoples questions, but it's a bit like how long is a peice of string? Theres been 5 ltr Holden, 454 big block, vh45 Nissan V8 (turbo and non-turbo!), 351 Ford Clevo, chev deisels, ford deisels.....there are lots more, you can put almost anything in them V8 wise and there been lots of variations over the years.

What are you doing with it...comps or not? whats your budget? Whats your limitations? Few more specifics pls matey :D

short of some caterpillar and cummins engines, i am sure you can put anything in a ptrol :D

anything ford or chev has more than likely been done. ( diesel and petrol)
