MQ/MK rear window struts?
MQ/MK rear window struts?
the rear window shocks or struts or whatever they are called.....
these are a problem. they wear out and don't hold up the window, very annoying. I tried Nissan but they are NLA. I tried generic ones but they have to be modified to much for my liking. I tried used ones but they were just as toasted as mine!
Do you guys in Aus have a replacement? A new strut that bolts right in? If so what is the brand and model number?

have you tried having them re-gased, they put them in a sealed container and fill it with the right gas at large pressure. they wont last as long next time around, you should get a year or so at least, and its fialy cheap to..
mq shorty, black, rust free!!, quarter chop, F&R tube bars and sliders, q78's or 33'' stt's, 4.88's with lsd waiting to be thrown in.. :D http://www.patrol4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=9540
i had a mate who has a falcon station wagon, his struts were rooted, there is a lot more weight it has to lift. ( lifts the whole rear door)
used them on my patrol, works great! bit longer tho but no big deal.
just don't drive with the window open, kills them real quick.

hmmmnnn...well I was hoping there was an aftermarket one in Aus that could be bought off the shelf. Since there is so many Patrols I figured someone must make one...
I hadn't thought of regassing them, that may be the solution. Especially since I have 2 used set now. I just like to fix something and have it be good for a long time.
There is plenty of aftermarket ones in the USA. But they are all made for Jeeps, Fords, Chevy and such. So have to drill out the rivits at the joints to mount in a Patrol. Not that big of a deal I just wanted something that bolts in.

God of Magnificant Ideas!
Plenty of passenger cars use em too, even the smaller jap cars have em as rear window struts / bonnet ( or in yank lingo ..... "hood" struts )RMP&O wrote:There is plenty of aftermarket ones in the USA. But they are all made for Jeeps, Fords, Chevy and such. So have to drill out the rivits at the joints to mount in a Patrol. Take a walk to the wreckers and ask em for something thats close to ya sample strut, plenty of choice here from various different makes / models.
Ulternativle ..... modify the other makes to suit .... damn sight easier than a 5spd swap
