Water leak - where's it coming from?

I 've got a water leak problem on my 1991 Safari LWB . I thought the seal on one of my rear doors was probably shot. I first noticed my rear carpet was wet about a week ago after the storms we've been having. However, the door seals look fine. I pulled the rear seat and the carpet out. I found some rust spots along the seam near where the dicky seat bolts in. However, there are no holes throught the rust. I'll fix that once I find the source of the water. The carpet seems to be the wettest on the rear passenger side. However, there is condensation everywhere inside the rear panels, so it makes it impossible to track. Has anyone else had problems with water coming in the back in their GQ or Safari? If so, do you have any suggestions of where to look? Thanks,

There are some rubber bungs with drains in them on the inside of the rear quarter panels. Might be worth checking to see if they are blocked........... Stick your head under the car and you'll see them, about 20mm in diameter.

I found three rust holes in the back of the truck - two of them were right through. With the help of my neighbour who restores classic cars, I cut out the rust spots on the floor pan and got the patches welded in. People might want to keep an eye on the area where the dickie seats bolt in. There are three layers of metal there: floor pan, brace for the dickie seats and another brace underneath that. It is a great spot for water and muck to collect and start things rusting. The thrid spot was right in the middle of the rear floor pan seam where it joins the rest of the forward floor pan. I also noted that a few of the spot welds in the rear floor pan were beginning to rust (just on the top and probably from water sitting in there). I sanded the rustout of them and treated them with zinc primer and paint. I'll leave the rear mat off until I am sure it is staying dry. The fact that the carpets are rubber backed does not help prevent rust. The water can't evaporate out. Anyways, I hope this fixes the water problem. Cheers,
