4.2 Carby, Trouble starting cold
4.2 Carby, Trouble starting cold
Ok i finally got my wobble sorted, now i have a new problem...
Engine is the 4.2 carby GQ
I have a hell of a time starting the car when its cold. It'll turn over for ages n ages before it finally starts to run.
Idles about 200-400 RPM and very slowly builds up to normal idle, i mean over the matter of a few minutes.
If touch the accelerator at all it'll just cut out.
Now ive found out that it could be the solenoid in the carby thats shat itself or the actual mecanism the open n closes?
I sometime has a flat spot on takeoff if i punch it to take off. If the solenoid has died would this cause this problem to?
Or the carby may just need a flush out.
Any one else had a similar problem and how to fix it?
Cheers Justin

i have the same problem on my dual fuel maverick, i pulled the head off the carby and doused the crap out of it with some carby cleaner, it seems to start , run and idle a hell of alot better now, but i might still strip it down n see what sort of an improvment that will make

um im sry my gas was already running good, just my petrol was fairly horrible, besides my idle that was always poor when it first started, now on either it seems alot cleaner (there was alot of gunk in my carby tho) and while im at it i might pop down to nissan and get a rebuild kit, if u have a nissan bible then they are a piece of piss to do.
