Shockies Too Short?

gday,

i recently bought 4 new shockies for my sierra,thinking it might fix this anoying noise it makes. Well, they went in fine and the ride improved slightly. A few days ago i bought 4 new springs and fitted them, and now the rear shocks stay at full extension. i also have 2" longer shackles.

i was told that stock shocks are fine for stock springs and 2" extended shackles, so why are they at full extension? Will the new springs settle over time?

yea I found the same thing with ome rear shocks. they had less then an inch of travel left in them. I removed the load leaves from the springs which had given them another inch but I still dont have a great deal of droop. You will find though that if you measure it up there isnt really room for a much larger shock. there has been a thread on this recently and people found that without bump stopping or some sort of extended tower. they could only get another inch or so longer shock. (Hiace ones I think).

hi i had the same problem i was told that commodore ones fit and they do get the heavy duty ones they last longer

threads been put into the bible under cheap shock options

I think if you have added 2 inch or over the Hiace shocks (check the thread for part number) would work well for you in the rear. Ride is a bit stiffer on road but they do quite a good job off.

hay mate what leaves did u remove?i have the same problem with mine and it realy looks ugly with the back been higher than the front the back is a lot higher im runnning maxi tracs springs

I only removed the load leaves. I have ome heavy duty's. the load leaves are the flat ones on the bottom, they only do anything under comperssion normal daily driving you wont notice an difference so removeing these wont adjust your front to rear height. the reason that the shocks are now long enough is because it has lifted the bottom shock mount.

whats the one thats right at the bottom that sticks out straight?did it soften up the ride?

yea thats the one. no it didnt soften up the ride. it only does something when you have a load in the back in which case your ride will be softer anyhow.
