higher the number lower the ratio. Alot of ppl say that its such a small difference that it is ok and others say that it will wind up the transfer case. I havent seen it first hand so i dont know who to believe.
If you have a HJ or FJ which is what it will be being an 85 it will still fit they are the same size. It will also fit in the front if you wanted to.

If at first you dont succeed.......get a bigger HAMMER!!!
sweet well that saves me a locker , it was originaly a hj75 , will it make it hard on the front diff and transfer as they are all spining at diferent speeds now?

The difference in ratio is about 0.2%. This is much lower than the difference if you had new tyres on the rear and half worn tyres on the front.
On a part time 4wd you won't have a problem as you are unlikely to be in 4wd on high traction surfaces like bitumen anyway. I have had a 70 series rear (has an ARB locker in it) in my part time 4wd 80 series for nearly a year and not a problem.
