2LT alternator / regulator wiring

Post by dieseltoy »

I have an alternator that was shipped to me in the US from AU. It's for a 2LT2.

Problem is I did not get a regulator for it. So now I am trying to adapt a regulator here in the US.

There are three pins in the square plug on the alternator that (I guess) plug into the regulator.

There are three wires coming from the back of the alternator to the plug. (black, blue and green)

My question is:
Which pins go to what parts of the regulator? (field, IG, etc)
Is there a schematic or wiring diagram online somewhere?

The regulator aint large, heavy or expensive (I have a spare one at home) would it be easier to send one over?

Hi Ed,

yeah I sent it to that address, and another one today saying I had grabbed one for you at the wreckers!

here is the diagram again, the regulator is more or less identical for all toyotas from late 1970's to early 1990's, pretty much only the colour of the wires changes, and it's easy to reace them by pulling the covers off.

the one I emailed is much bigger and includes more detail, the three wires off the top of this diagram are B+ (white), Ignition+ (Black - Yellow) and charge light (yellow - white)

cheers
