Roof top tents

Post by MEL »

Hey everyone,
What are peoples thoughts on roof top tents in general. Also which do you guys own and which would you recomend (considering price and quality). I would like to mount the standard flip over style one (double bed size) onto the top of a box trailer keeping budget in mind. Has this been done, if so, any picture examples? cheers in advance!

if you have a good camping spot... if you ever wanna drive some where, you have to pak up and risk your spot

I've got a Technitop roof top camper. It has its good points and bad.
The Good

Comfy nights sleep where ever you park.
Out of the way from animals crocs etc
No trailer so easy to off road with.

The Bad

It takes ten minutes to put up or down.
If you pack it down wet expect a wet nights sleep the following night.
High wind resistance needs a spoiler of some sort. Other wise it really kills the fuel and speed.
Can be very intresting to get in and out of when drunk. Ouch!!

I'm still travelling around Oz and using my one. Would like to get rid of it. but cannot find a better solution for my needs
Anything is possible, it just comes down to time and money.

I bought one from this guy about 2 months ago.

They are OK for the price when you compare them to the ARB ones and look the same.

The eBay ones though are obviously not made as well as the ARB ones

We have used ours a fair bit and so far it OK but you know to be more careful with it than the more expensive versions.

My Brother in law has the ARB one and when we go camping in ours we get a fair bit of condensation inside the tent whereby he does not as the material on his allows the tent to breathe better.

On the whole though if you can get an eBay one for under $700 bucks then they are fine and do the job.

I have no regrets.
