GU dyno figures , results ?
I've got a 2001 gu 4.2 ltr turbo diesel with 150000 klm . just put on 3 inch dump and striaght through exhaust and wound the boost up to 10 psi.
took it to a turbo dyno tuner and got the timing altered from 0.54 to 0.75 and got it tuned eg fuel set up . its on standard tyres (265s) .
the rear wheel results were 86 kw and 325 nm on a mainline dyno.
i'm wondering if this is a low output for this car with these mods or not and just want to know what sort of figures other people are getting out of these and where they got their's tuned at in sydney area , thank you .

i had my dyno figures somewhere however my 04 i had 3" exhaust no mufflers and 14psi and fuel to suit never gets over 400 degrees on pryo loaded and has about 100rwkw's
yours sounds a bit iffy

From my experience 2 dynos will never give the same figures so there’s no point trying to compare mine against yours. Would it be better working on the percentage of power gained for it may be a more realistic comparison.

I havnt had mine dynoed yet, but i got someone to work it out for me on another site, How he works it out is by using the info i gave him like, how much i have turned the fuel up, boost level, diff ratios, tyres etc. accordong to his calculations i should have around 105rwkw. My ute is a GU 4.2 Non-Intercooled turbo diesel, 3 inch mandrel bent exhaust with dump pipe, no muffler, 13.5psi boost, a bit more fuel (won't say excactly how much lol I'm abit touchy about it ) running standard tyres (265/75 R16) and standard diff ratios. Man i can't wait for the intercooler to go on

My SD33T powered MK with boost and fuel power up hits almost 60rwkw - The car feels almost twice as quick to drive on the tar and spins 33's no problems, where as before 31's was a task

we also have a mainline dyno, average power figures are from 70-80 rwkw as standard.
Doing the work you have done helps, but fueling needsd to be adjusted as well. Did he also check egt's. This is something that we do as standard on every dyno run.
We have vehicles ranging from 88 - 120 rwkw factory turbo'd depending on what the customer wants and if its i/c or hiflowed.
If your man has any questions he can call me on 03 9739 5031 to discuss further tuning of your vehicle. He may be a petrol guy and not know the areas where to adjust a pump.
Yes all dynos are different, even how you strap the car down on a dyno, temp and humidity, tyre types and other factors all alter figures. At the end of the day if you ran before and after figures on the same dyno, it will be an accurate test of difference.

When I went to the second dyno place they laughed at me when I said 45rwkw until I showed them the read out.
mine made 96kw @ rear wheels 35 inch tyres, hiflowed turbo ,3inch exhaust no muffler, pump modified, 14 psi. i now run 17 psi egt 500 degrees 115kw @ rear wheels

it was dynoed originally at 68 kw and 270 nm . apparently they said it had a almost blocked gauze in the pump and they also set the fuel up and timing ?
It does drive a lot better and has more go and torque ,
I just thought i would get a little more out of it with what i done .
it was all done by a reputable diesel tuner in sydney .
also what would people consider a safe boost level on it, it is non intercooled and i want it reliable and longevity out of it ( 8 psi standard it was running )

I'm running mine @ 11psi & haven't had any probs with it heating up so far (even up here in QLD). It's a standard 4.2 non intercooled turbo with a 3' zoorst & dump pipe without any pump work done yet.
I'm taking it to Chapmans here on the Sunny Coast to give the pump & turbo bit of a tweak on the dyno next week. I'll give the results when I get it back.

what you are asking for and expecting can be different. If this guy did the dyno properly, it would have been strapped down with 4 straps. Just doing this will alter rear wheel output by approx 5-8 kw lower. Most dyno guys do not strap cars down, this allows them to ride up the front roller not turning the back and display more power.
You have mad an 18 kw gain, approx 25%, on only 10psi, as well as retaing good reliabilty and longevity. Dont read into what others are making, alot of it has to do with total fueling, tyres, diff ratio, boost pressures, egts etc.
If everyone had dyno sheets that showed before and after figures on the same dyno, with correction factors displayed and the percentage gain was worked out, you have done fairly well.
You can go further, but you will only be able to boost up to 12psi before the relief valve blows off.
