HI there

hopeing someone can help me i've lost a bit of power in the ute and there
is abit of a chuffing noise comeing from the snorkle fairly loud noise
and blows alittle bit of smoke the engine as only done about 20,000ks
, um i've been told that it it could be my valve clearence, does any one know what the valve clearence is spose to be?????
or any one got any ideas what else could be causeing it its not useing any oil either just to give an idea i'm flat out getting 125 kph out of her wich is struggle and takes abit to get up to speed it used to sit 140 comfortable towing a trailer yesterday was flt out holding 100kph on the highway and it blows constant smoke black by the look of it any help on this subject at all would be much appreciated fairly urgent need to get sorted thanks

take it back to Nissan dealer. their problem, its under warranty.

how could a gq still be under nissan warenty?


but yeah take it back to whoever rebuilt it

4.2 motor prob

thanks guys i would but its not under waranty the motor come out of am inported model not rebuild only had 5000ks on it

Valve clearances: 0.35mm

Sounds like it's just suddenly started. Could be as simple as crap fuel.

Other possibilities are injectors / injector pump (although I assume that these are the same age as the engine?)

Try a new fuel filter if you haven't already tried this. It could be fuel starved from a clogged filter.

Mate if it's puffing back through the snorkel it sounds like you dropped an inlet valve. Could be exhausting through this on compression.

1) drain all fuel out of tanks
2) bleed fuel system THEN
3) change all fuel filters from tank and in engine bay
4) change air filters (precleaner and main)

take for run, any difference?

could be anything from a valve, fuel pump, injectors, bad fuel, etc...

but start with the cheap guff.
