Aftermarket Airbag Steering Wheels

Post by Troyota »

Does anyone know if you can get an aftermarket steering wheel for cars that come with standard airbags? The last HiLux had a nice little Momo wheel on it but the new one I've got now is the first car I've had with airbags standard so no Momo!
Has anyone ever done this, maybe even fitted an airbag wheel out of another car?
Any thoughts?

single air bag , check with your insurance but you should be able to take it off.

Depends on insurance, if its NRMA dont bother but i know suncorp is cool with it as long as they know.

 don't wear your seat belt, either? there isn't a word to describe how dumb it is to disable a safety system, albeit a secondary system like airbags.

Stick with the manufacturer's airbag, it is the only one specifically designed for your vehicle. If you want to run a teenage cool steering wheel, buy a ratty old truck, and put some Dudelux boy racer pedal pads on it while you're at it. Seriously, put your money into something worthwhile like a locker or winch.

tho maby he has to much money and already has everthing like that

it highly elligal to romove an air bag!!!
momo will do a new wrap around the outter rim in bling colors of your choice, like what you can buy at auto barn for commodores and falcons. they may or may not re cover the actual air bag unit not sure if they can or not, youd have to ring them

Any decent auto upholsterer can replace the fabric on it to a different style/colour etc. Maybe you can get woodgrain vinyl  .

If you want the number of a good one in Sydney PM me ;)

Try reading the original post dumb ass. I never said anything about removing the airbag....that was kind of the whole point of the question.
By the way, get back to me when you can spell.

we actually Numb nuts its not illegal to take an airbag out of a vechile as long as the vechile had a model that didn't come out with an airbag.

hilux work mates dont have an airbag so you can take it off.

before you get on your high horse next time how about you have a little think, " How does this guy know what hes on about "

Maybe because its my job to know wether or not you can take an air bag out.

Taken it out isn't smart but its the cheapest way to get a sports steering wheel.
