OK not sure if this has beed asked couldnt find anything

Im looking for a set of play tyres and cant decide between the simex extreme trekers 2 the centipede in a 36x12.5x15 or the maxis creepy crawly in 37x12.5x15 they will be used in rocks and clayish mud and a little on road...

Have been told that creepies only last 20 000km and the centipede last a good 50 000km and the creepy is poorly built and the simex is quality but ive heard the same thing the other way around depending on who you talk.. so I was looking for some feed back from people who have used them and know first hand performance and wear factors..

I can get both for a similar price around $440 each..

Had experience with both tyres and I can say without doubt that the Creepies are far and away the better tyre.

Simex are an excellent mud and loose dirt tyre, but for rock you want to be on Creepies.

And as far as wear goes, you need to minimise the amount of road ks you do with any specialist tyre.

same here, had both and the creepies are a much better all round tyre especially on rocks, but no where near as good in mud

i had the 36" pedes and 38.5 " creepies..

gotta say the pedes were far superiour in mud and better on rd.. but the creepeis were better on rock...

i've done about 15'k on my creepeis and they are about a quarter worn..

if u like mud.. pedes..

creepies are prolly a better all round option tho...

Creepys hands down i had claws and they are a fantastic tyre but 80 percent of the time im on rock and i cant fault them.I tried a simex extreme treker and i wouldnt have them if you gave them to me,only because i dont play in the mud a lot.

Well thanks 4 the input peoples its looking pretty one sided.the only mud is whats between me and the rock climbs or whats on the rocks in the wet periods,as for the claws I checked them out but I want an aggresive looking tyre as well or the better half wont agree to me getting them :roll: thats why I was thinking creepies with the big side bitters

crawlers on road?

I would stay away from claws as well. They were ok for me but MTR's are a better option if you want an all-rounder.

I was looking at fitting creepy crawlers but decided against it as I'd heard they were hard to balance and no good on road. What's the feedback on the 37 and 38" crawlers at highway speeds? Can they be balanced up well or are they more like running swampers?

yes the claws look good on pic but i have had them side by side with creepy and the creepy has deeper tread blocks and the claws were very costly over here and had to come from the states

have been told by the retailer that the swamper needs to have groves cut in it to make it perform in the rocks,the idea being tyers with multiple tread blocks do better then tyres with long tread blocks such as the claws,This is in rocky terrain and I didnt want to cut up $2000 worth of new tyres :?

creepys hands down, run far away from the claws, they have the weakest sidewalls out of all the hardcore rock tyres, as for the pedes, does anyone else think they just look plain ugly?

The largest benefit to having Creepies over Claws is the sidewall strength. I was able to run Creepies at 6psi with no beadlocks and had zero damage to the sidewall.

Holed a Claw at 11psi in the sidewall on a rock that the Creepy would have eaten.

As for h'way travel, I had the 37/12.5/16 and had no problem with them at all.

And it is definitely a tyre that gets better with age.

they work awesome cut and uncut.

Personal i think you need to run both in the same places and make your own mind up. tyre's are a personal choice.

once again thanks for the input,it has made the decision alot easier.And considering I can get the 37x12.5x15 creepy for $420 fitted I reckon thats a good price.I have had prices as high as $580and $600 each :?
