Taco not working on 93 Disco V8

Post by jono »

We have a 93 Disco V8 with a new 3.9 in it and the taco has just stopped working occasionally it will move but only for a couple of seconds then refuse to work. Anyone out there have any ideas where to start looking?
Thanks

Check your alternator, the bottom wire on the alternator runs the taco, if it has come loose it could be the fault, or your alternator has shit itself. Check to see if it is charging properly, did you go through any dusty or muddy tracks lately?

On the alternator it is the wire connected to the 'W' terminal.

should be a 'w' stamped on the back of the alternator next to one of the terminals - the tacho feed is generally a white wire, if you can't find the mark.
