Looks like homemade cont box??

my motor cost me 160 + or - to get rebuilt after i paid $800 for one with all the bits (did a lot of hard work before it died!!)

i fink new ones are about 500 hunna from the winch man.. good thinkg is you can fit a new 4.6 to an old winch if you have $$ the gears n shite havn't changed

well.

It works.

It has a home made solenoid box with a booty power lead attached to it, (like a normal 3 pronged power lead) not the small 3 pin thing from the front.

It has a booty end plate after the original bushes got destroyed along with the alloy end.

Its fairly cheap, but still I aint certain. I really would want to change the solenoid cover back to an original one and get the original end cap. (How much would that cost).

ahhh. I dont know enougfh about winches (especially highmounts).

Also from the look of the pics, I cant see a free spool knob.

I don't think people bother free spooling high mounts. They wind in and out pretty quickly.

I'd buy it for parts but would not expect it to be a cheap proposition for a working winch. the 8274 hasn't changed much over the years, most of the guts haven't changed at all, so it's good for spares.

Buy it ..... Try it ....and if its no good flog it off, $500 for a winch is cheap, even spending another $500 on it brings it up to 1k....not bad for a highmount

Yeah, its one of the early high mounts without the free spool. Internally they are pretty much the same as the newer ones, although $500 is fairly steep for something so old and in questionable repair. I wouldn't pay more than $200 for that one. Then use the money you've saved and take it to Malcolm Leslie and get it modded.

I payed $300 for this 8274 and i have never even checked if it works :P

It is worth $300 even if it doesnt. Funny thing is i dont even have a use for it. Im still using my XD9000 on the front of my lux even with the new tube front bar. I dont see any real reason to add the weight of a high mount when my Modded XD9000 does the job fine and i will be able to get better approach with it.

It will prob just sit in the garage for a few more years till i buy a larger tow vehicle. Hopefully this time next year my current lux will be my Tow Vehicle

I just bought a 8274 High mount winch for $650 with Hawse fairlead in working order minus the controller lead.

Anyone got a 3 pin or 5 pin controller lead for sale in and around Melbourne for cheap. I can get new for $110 but maybe someone has a cheaper one just lying around that they want to get rid of.

Cant help with the lead but if you want a set of rollers instead of the Hawse i would be interested in swapping.

I also have a new set of rollers that I tried on it but they stick out a little too far for my liking so I installed it with the Hawse Fairlead instead.

Anybody want to buy a new set of roller??
