Range Rover brake system problem

Post by GURU »

G'day all,

I'm having a problem with the brakes on my project 90, which uses all Range Rover brakes (around 1982 components) the only differance is I have fitted the Servo and Master cylinder to a Series III brake pedal assembly.

Now this is the problem I have, the Primary system has air in it, but the secondary system seems to have no air at all.

Whats the trick to bleeding the system?

Use a power bleeder.

Or lazy like fit bleed screws with one way valves. ( they work great)

G'day all,

Well I have found the problem, but not the cause. My Primary system just won't bleed, when I disconnect the rear brake line from the flex hose, very little fluid will pump through, when I say little, I mean bugger all.

Does this mean my MC is leaking in the primary part? or is there another problem ?

Have you used the rangie "brake failure valve?" It might be locking of the primary due to the lack of pressure! I am only a hack and probably wrong (disclaimer!!!!) but try opening a bleed valve on the secondary system and see what happens to the primary. I think from memory you are supposed to blled both at the same time but theres a good chance that I am making no sense.

Yes it does as the rig stops on the secondary setup, so that system is working fine
