Warn 8274 rebuild

Post by tony cordell »

'm going to clean up and replace the oil in the winch.
I'm told by Arbil I need
atf type f
or sae 20 non detergent

any ideas on where to get either of these?

ps what length plasma ropes have people been installing on this winch? the steel one is 46mts long 8mm IIRC

PPS I'm considering a bigger/more powerfull motor too
any recommendations??

There is a good write up on Pirate about rebuilding a high mount. Its worth having a look at.

Malcolm Leslie who mods winches down here in Vic recommends using gear oil (85-90). I've been using this and haven't had any problems.

I used 11mm plasma on my high mount and i have around 45m i think. If you get 9mm, you could probably get another 5-10m.
