Fellas,
What pyro temps should be run on a 2.8d Hilux. It has a CT20 running 520 degrees. Want more go but dont want to blow it up. No intercooler running 9psi boost by my VDO gauge. Is 9 standard for one of these turbos?
Thanks

2.8D Pyro Temp

where is the pyro fitted?
those motor never came out with a turbo so there is no standard boost for the turbo.
on the 2.4 turbo motors the turbo comes off i think the standard boost is only 6-7psi. one thing a few people have commented on is hiflowing the turbo drops the engine temps while performing better. i suspect the turbo is a bit small for the 2.4, which makes it really small for the 2.8 exspecially with the boost wound up.

i'm not really up on the EGT temps but i think for an probe thats after turbo its on the high side allready.
don't forget a lot of that boost comes from the turbo beating the air makeing it hotter eg upping the boost may make the air lot hotter without shoving much more air into the motor. hot intake air increases EGT quite a bit.
what fuel pump are you running? has it got a compensator?

600C post turbo is fairly safe. you can'y go much higher than about 6 - 7psi with that turbo, it is too small for the 2.4 and way way too small for the 2.8. with a corretly sized turbo (or have that one high flowed - should only need a new compressor wheel and cover machined to match) you should be able to safely run 9 - 10psi on the 2.8 without intercooling, maybe 12 with an intercooler. you start running up against the limits of indirect injected motors if you try and go much higher.
