Accurate tyre gauges

Ive got 2 VDO ones from ARB.
Both read the same .
One Ive had for 8 years.

I think the trick is to get one that only goes up to 30 or 40... rather than one that goes way up... that way you can get a more accurate reading with lower pressures.

I got a VDO with the ARB compressor I got as a gift - thing was fucked from the start - could work out what the hell was going on when I was at the servo and checking the pressures with the servo's guage then mine.

Before that I had one of those el cheapo pen guages from the servo - and I've gone back to using it - its perfect, and always accurate...and only $7.95 if I loose it.

I got a VDO with the ARB compressor I got as a gift - thing was ***** from the start - could work out what the hell was going on when I was at the servo and checking the pressures with the servo's guage then mine.

Servo Gauges get knocked around and a far from accurate.


I'd trust a good quality VDO before a Servo one anyday

I use one of those pen type cheap ass jobbies from Kmart...hasn't done me wrong yet

i went to my local gauge shop that sell and calibrate guages then got a decent gauge up 30psi, and atached a tyre chuck/air valve on the end. and it is the best. i got it for when i was gokarting and very body around was suing mine until they made there own.

I've had one of the Dick Smith digital ones for many years. Seems to be accurate and the readout goes up in 0.5psi steps.

I got one through a fitting supplier. Attahed a valve and a tyre chuck and I don't have to bend over whilst deflating anymore. (Great security for when BJ is around )

I have 2 other guages and all 3 read different

I use a digital one from super cheap and it seams to be acurate and goes right down to zero psi.
I still carry a guage type one as well in case the didi sh!ts itself though.

I've had a VDO (the one in the leather pouch) for over 10 years. This suited me fine until I wanted to go down to single figures, so I flagged down the local Snap-On truck and got one that just goes to 30psi. The face is nice and large and the increments spaced with very decent gaps so it is easy to read.

True, thats why I was so confused for a while - but I checked with two other guages (including another VDO) and it was f*cked.

I use a Poly Air unit & has been great for the past 8-9 years, all metal easy to read no probs. Have seen some pretty bad one's in mates cars (like 10 & 20 psi different). I know someone who when deflating just pulls the valves & counts to twenty, simple if you don't drop it hey.

that's what we used to do when we went on the beach ......have to be a bit more precise now with the locker. i just use a $10 from autobarn and it works great
