Second generation pajero V6 - show me you hose!

Post by mrx78u »

I didn't wanna ask this question, but I want to see you hose... ;)

More specifically, i want an engine bay shot so that I can see the hose which connects from the back of the air flow meter and onto the throttle body.

Some background on why, basically I've just converted my NE 2.6 pajero across to the magna EFI setup. Now from what i've seen, most of the EFI mitsubishis use the same air flow meter. And i've spotted this on the second generation V6 pajeros as well. Basically, the linking hose which came from the magna isn't suitable, and i'm looking for a replacement. Before I go and tell the parts boys at mitsi to find me one (can't get one from a wreckers) i'd like to have a look and see if it's of any use.

Was thinking about finding someone randomly with a v6 pajero, and asking to look at their hose  but they might not take so kindly to that

Thanks in advance,
Mick.

Just use a couple of rubber or silicone bends and a bit of exhaust pipe, or SS/ally pipe if you want it to look pretty. Then you just paint the pipe with some satin black or crinkle paint and it will almost look like it's meant to be there.

The diamater of the oval shaped connection off the back of the AFM is 95.25mm or 3 3/4 inch. I can't get a hose to fit that, let alone reducing it to the 70mm diamater throttle body intake.

The reducer is easy, just get an exhaust shop that does truck exhausts to expand piece of 3" pipe out to 3 3/4" for you (I had a few 2" - 3" ones made for my cooler piping), should only cost about $20. As for the hose, have you tried some of the industrial hose suppliers? Most of those guys stock a pretty wide range of sizes, if you take your afm in with you they may have something that's close enough that it can be clamped down/stretched over the back of the afm. I've got silicone joiners on the presurised side of my turbo that are clamped down from 3" to 2 3/4" with no probs, just use good quality hose camps and it should be fine.

Problem solved, picked up some 80mm intake hose, a 4-3" rubber coupler for the back of the AFM and a 3-2.5" coupler for the throttle body!

Yay, couldn't find these parts before, walked into autobarn... and there was everything on the shelf.

Will post up some pics when it's all in.
