NEWS FLASH- Aust. 4wd Monthly CLIFFHANGER 9-13 JULY, 2007
Hobzee and I have discussed it in length and thought it best if we changed the dates from the hot month of November to the cooler one of July.
We have also incorporated an extra day, making it even more value for money.
Everything is on one property. No long convoys to stages. We have everything there.
Apart from feeding everyone, having showers, toilets, fuel on site, etc, we now also will be having a BAR. Yes, a bar!!!!!!!! Thanks to Kevin from the West Darling Hotel in Broken Hill. This is all included in your entry fee.
We also accept pay by the month, in instalments as little as $50 per month, we don't require to take all your money months in advance.
Spectators are most welcome. Prices start from $50 for spectators. Depending what package you get, spectators get all meals as well, including the use of all the facilities. There is no segregation, all in one base camp.
Entry forms and details are now up on the web.
As far as an indecent proposal goes, I'd accept nothing less than $100,000 to tolerate buggery. Any less and it's just not worth the psychological trauma.
Agree date change from Nov to when v. cold in July ( the OBC in May has had it's years of v. cold temps) is an idea but not a perfect change and also too close to the Ateco Warn Challenge at the end of July....lots of comp cars already competing at Ateco down in Victoria...which squirk prob doesn't realise.....
apart from both being long treks to get to.....needing extra time off for traveling to and from the event. that means more time off work!
Can another date be considered please Hobzee?

The calender is getting a bit cramped.cebarry wrote:Agree date change from Nov to when v. cold in July ( the OBC in May has had it's years of v. cold temps) is an idea but not a perfect change and also too close to the Ateco Warn Challenge at the end of July....lots of comp cars already competing at Ateco down in Victoria...which squirk prob doesn't realise.....

Yeah and I know of a few OBC people that want to get into Cliffhanger too....but with the OBC finishing end May....it doesn't give much time to prep/repair your truck for Ateco let alone Cliffhanger inbetween and by the time you've taken the extra days for traveling to 2 events in July ...it'll almost be back to back. Easy for those that can take 'paid' time off work but not so for self employed peoples.
Food for thought!

I actually gave it some thought today after seeing the date changes, and don't believe i will be going next year if the date stays in July. As mentioned by Celia it's way to close to the OBC, both to fix and get the car ready for another flogging, and as i'm self employed 2 weeks in May is pushing it, without having another week in July.
Rudi, Hobzee please reconsider this change as i think you'll seriously stunt the growth of what is already one of the best events on the calender.
What you'll do is force people to choose, if you want cooler weather think of late September or early October.

Sorry guys, the dates are firm and also confirmed with 4wd Monthly.
Late Sept & Early Oct are not much different in temp. (as per bureau stats).
July is in school holidays as well.
No matter what dates we choose there will be some other event around the corner or to consider doing instead. When we set these dates we knew there would be choices.
As you said Coighty, if we are one of the best events in the calendar then people would choose us as first preference, if not, that's ok as well.

That's a bummer Paul... We've got a score to settle.. Next year was about sorting us out.. One of us has to become victorious..Coighty wrote:Maybe next year then Rudi as weve already paid OBC 07.

Mate i hear you about the settling up thing, but as i said being self employed its to close. I was really looking forward to it in November, as i had such a good time this year. But sometimes people change things a little to quickly without consulting possible entrants for their thoughts, i think. Just my opinion.
