pulling to the left

pulling to the left
well just as in the subject, my rangie pulls to the left, sometimes worse than others though, sometimes if i let go of the steering wheel it really swereves across the road. It seems to gett worse when braking, and when i reverse backwards it quickly pulls the wheel till full lock left. what do you guys reckon, could it be the ball joint that causes it to be worse than others at times, any help apreciated
Hi oops,
Apart from the usual stuff like bushes, ball joints etc have a look at brake pad wear; especially on the rear diff. Rangies (and other 4x4's) have a prob with brake pistons sticking in the calipers, especially rear. Pad wear will show this really easily. Brake places rebuild some 4x4 calipers with rubber grease on the seals and pistons to prevent sticking. I've had similar probs to yours and it was the pistons sticking on rear diff. Trashed a couple of discs before it was figured out.
