I've got a gu ute with the twin tanks 175 litres in total . what i'm thinking of doing is taking out the sub tank module and wiring and i want to run the sub tank as a true sub tank. meaning that when i press the sub tank button the car will run off that tank .
i know i need a three way actuator or valve between the tanks and the fuel line to the engine . just wondering what else i need or if people have done this and what they did. any help woul be greatly appreciated thanks

gu , sub tank
I did this to my GU.
You will need a six port solenoid valve if it’s a diesel for the return lines as well. They come up on Ebay for about $100 occasionally (new) or they are about $250 to buy from a shop. I left the existing transfer in place and ran a new switch to the dash. Basically the solenoid is activated to drow from the main tank by a positive current and it then needs the opposite current to move it to the Aux tank. So you only need to run a dual core cable to the valve and use a double throw double pole switch at the dash., and power it fro the acc, so it doesn't draw current(although minor) when you are stopped.
I can email you a diagram if you like.
I can now draw fuel out of the main or Aux and also still transfer from the Aux to the main tank. I did this because I once holed the main tank and then couldn’t transfer the contents of the Aux to the main and couldn’t use the Aux fuel. I guess I could have but I would have lost that fuel too.
One extra thing if it's a diesel you may need to add a return entry into the Aux as the factory tanks don’t come with one. I had an extra return point welded into my long range tank.
