I have a 02 jackaroo 3.5 auto, and have noticed that one of the rear axle seals is leaking...
Are these difficult to fix? or are they straight forward to do? if anyone has any tips on doing it I would be greatfull
I am fairly mechanicaly minded and realy want to do it myself but I thought I would ask you guys just in case there is any tricks to doing it......

By the way.... I was shocked at the price difference (for bearings and seals) between Auto-pro (my fav shop) and our local holden dealer (generaly the dearest shop in the world).. Get this, the holden dealer was HEAPS CHEAPER than Auto-pro.....
I couldn't believe it either.........

Hehe, it pays to shop around. I've found that occasionally the dealers price for OEM is cheaper than aftermarket, but not very often.
I'm surprised Auto-pro actually have them for a later model Jackaroo, I have to go genuine for most of my Rodeo stuff, which hasn't been a lot though.
Is your Jack drum or disc rear?

You can do them youself, get your hands on a copy of the service manual or a gregory's its easier than explaining it on the net and worth having. YOu are prorably going to want to do the rear wheel bearings too at teh same time, so you are going to need a large press to get them on and off.

I've looked all over and can't find a manual for this model, am I not looking hard enough?
....I had to buy a wheel nut last week, so I called the local holden dealer......$18.00 yes...$18.00 for ONE wheel nut, I went to auto pro and got a set of lock-nuts for $20.00.

In the manual for the Rodeo drum rear it says that only slight pressure is needed to remove the bearing and like lay80on said you should really replace the bearing as well because you have to take the bearing and outer race off anyway to replace the seal.lay80n wrote:You can do them youself, get your hands on a copy of the service manual or a gregory's its easier than explaining it on the net and worth having.
