I drove this on sunday, great track - will need some serious underbody protection to race it! heard some have driven it in 10mins, like to see it!

I like alben falling a tree across the track to stop people leaving the gates open! took longer to find a way in then it took to drive!

That was an awsomwe event one of the best speed events I have seen well done, just a shame
there weren't a few more cars, but it is close to Christmas bet that that kept a few away.
Again well done Red.

This is from Antt...

well it was a good comp

the number of competitors was a bit of a bummer (only 6 or 7 cars), and only in class b & c, none for class a

but the track and rest of it was good fun. the track had a bit of everything, rocks, water, grass, mud, climbs, drops, open and tight parts, and the guys who were competing certainly were driving the ass outta the cars

quickest time was something like 8 and a half minutes ..... which was run by Jeff White (i think) in his patrol in class b.

we in the cruiser ran above 10 mins for our runs, and lee certainly wasnt being soft on the cruiser, so it must be a pretty quick ride in the patrol

results were

class b- Jeff White
class c- Shane Gerish (sp?)

Overall- Jeff White

it certainly lived up to the name carnage canyon. we had a fairly good run on saturday morning and the night stage last night. but today we managed to smash the windscreen, stake a tire, shear the studs off the locking hub, and tons of other dents and scratches

thanks to shane for rescuing us, and for putting on the comp. along with terry and the other bloke at the other end (forgot his name )

i hope he runs another one early next year cause it was a great comp with the potential to become big

we had a camera mounted in the car for all the runs, so i'll upload a run of the track sometime tonight once its captured and edited
this is the video from the first run on saturday morning, its a big file, 72 meg

You've only been to the 8 day other wise so you say it is the best of the 2 speed events you've been to?

You dont know what i have seen Linc! Didnt see you at any of the old EMU comps that were speed events (Battle of the states). Thats right you didnt have your licence then just a BMX with spokey dokes and cardboard in the back spokes.

Carnage Canyon certainly lived up to the name ... Laurie broke a front diff and his thumb on the recce when he was checking out which lines to take on friday and didn't make it to the start.

We had in B class [ 35-37" tyres"]
Mick and Craig in a GQ TD ute.
Wil and Jeff in a GQ TD ute.
Jeff and Wil in a GQ TD ute.
Barb and Jeff in a 80 dual cab ute.

and in C class
Lee and Antt in the V8 40 [loved the sound of that at full noise echoing through the canyon :-) ]
Shane in the GU TD ute

Well ... i had an absolute ball !!
did a 13.00 run on saturday and whitey did a 10.24 so on the night run i pulled another 3 minutes off my time to make it a 10.24 :D
only problem is ... whitey pulled a 8.46

my favorite was the night run and strangely enough everyone except Wil did faster times ... must be because you can't see what your gunna hit

Only had two recoveries and they were on the sunday
Lee [see damage report above] who did a tyre in the "rock Garden" and kept going til it wouldn't go no more on the other side of the "Hell Hole"

Barb when the bank gave way on "leanover Lane" but i just had to hold the 80 with the winch while she reversed back onto the track then a quick snatch when the 80 slid off the "goolies" and got wedged .

My Carnage was
top trailing arm
steering stabiliser
ripped a flare off
hit a few trees and bent some stuff but she drove home OK although the swampers were a fair bit more out of balance.

Definately gunna run another one around october once i check to see what else is on

Thanks to Terry and Starkey for handling the starting and stopping duties and a big thanks to 4x4store.com.au for the vouchers ...

Jeff White hold the record with a time of 8 min 34 secs
and won the Outright trophy, B class trophy, $250.00 voucher from 4x4store.com.au and $180.00 cash [30% of entry monies]

Shane Gerrish holds the C class record with a best time of 10 min 24 secs and the finals time of 10 min 39 secs and won the C class trophy, $250.00 vouchers from 4x4store.com.au and $60.00 cash [10% of entry monies]

with more entries the cash prize will be well worth having a go
