I ahve a 1997 disco 3.9 .
It seems to have an iratic idel. When first started it revs high then settles down. Also some times whan i come to a stop from diving the engine revs drop down to almost stall. The other day i went to reverse uo a drive way and it stalled. any ideas?

also you may need to reset the ECU and reset the base idle as well as cleaning the idle air control valve with carby cleaner.

i had the same drama.
basicly would idle fine while cold but once it warmed up and engine had been turned off and restarted while still warm would stall while in drive or even netural.
got a new airfilter
checked and replaced vacum hoses
disconnected cold fuel injector
set timming
adjusted airflow meter air bypass setting
set idle higher
