Shock Length List

Anyone have access to an online shock length list? I'm chasing a shock (eye/eye) with the same compressed length as a FJ40 (12") and an extended length the same as a FJ60 (24"). My 40 ones are too short but the 60 ones only compress to 14".

All the major brands have a pdf you can download that usually has lengths etc. Pick a brand and see how you go. Otherwise places like Supercheap have the catalogs with dimensions etc.

Thanks, found a mornoe catalogue here at work and sussed it out. Cant seem to find a shock that meets my requirements. Infact, the shock that they list for my 40 doesnt compress as far as mine already does.

Hey Ray185, lots of luck mate. If you put it down on paper, the 12" closed I presume is centre of hole to center os hole. You can't extend the shaft to 24" as you do not have 12 " of travel. If you section it you will see that the rod end will move as far as the TOP of the piston until it hits the Top of the tube.

I was thinking the same thing. I'd just get the measurement of how much you need to get the shock to travel, add an inch or so to that for good measure, then make up new mounts for them to suite.

I flexed the 40 up on my 2 post hoist without the front shocks in. Much like in this pic:


But in this case I lifted the left rear tyre up until the right front bump stop hit the diff (left tyre hadnt left the ground yet). I dont want it to flex anymore than that or the front tyres will rip the guards off. Measured the right front upper and lower shock pins (centre of eye to centre of eye) and got 13". Measured the left front the same way and got 23". So I have 10" of travel but I put another inch on each measurement to make sure I dont bottom out or over stretch the shock. Have I measured incorrectly?
