solving weak hilux diffs?

Post by bad_religion_au »

i know there is a bloke around that retrofits GQ centers into 80 series front housings to stop the issue with the crownwheel and pinion breaking.

considering the 80 diff is the same size as a lux (and can be used with modification), has anyone retrofitted the GQ center to stop lux's busting diffs?

just a thought i had on the crapper this morning

Same as rear axles. Yeah GQ GU diffs are strong from the factory but that is all you get as there is nothing on the after market to make them any stronger. Now don`t even bother with the "they are strong enough so they don`t need more" as that is crap because they still break.

What Datsun have in strength with some of there driveline components, they more than make up for with crap styling and bulky looking shite, i'd rather break a c.v any day than drive an underdeveloped bucket of crap a.k.a GQ/GU

P.s: Never back down Guts cos i'm not.....

it doesent matter how strong your CV's are if you keep busting centres and bending housings. Lonfields seem so great because the origional CV's are so SHIT.

Gu Cv's in comparison to toyotas.... NO COMPARISON.

styling is is in the eyes of the beholder, i would not piss on a late model cruiser or any hilux if it was on fire :)

its funny you think that arguing the point about toyota with aftermarket CV's actually helps your arguments..eheheh

Datsuns have great diff centres and with lots of ratio's to pick from thats were it stops, the Toyota CV's ( 80's ) are on par with GU as far as strengh go's but you can always get Long's for Toyota's of you want more. As for Front hubs/ wheel bearings, FWH's the Toyota S**t's over Datsun stuff and rear end give me a Full Floater any day. :) Ive converted to Datsun centres only because 80's need a better front centre, there cheap , Tuff and lots of Factory ratio's as the after market gear set's are no where near the quality of the OEM stuff. Im Toyota thru and thru but one needs to be realistic.

AWWWW didums, dont get cut lads, thing is, im a Realist.

im not blinded by the badge, ony by performace.

You can count the number of cruisers i currently have nearly on 2 hands.

80 CV's as tough as GU, LOL.

Full floater, yeah ok, it has a full floater, but have you ever broke a rear axle and lost a wheel with a nissan diff?

thats not answering the question .

pretty sad the yotas need so many after market mods done to the main drive train to make them reliable when out playing , but like EVIL73 said least they dont look shite with bulky styling  ( dude where talking 4x4's arent we not rice burners ) i supose there are a lot of posers in the 4x4 comunity :finger:
