4runner mods / stock height

hey everyone, a mate of mine recently bought a 1985 4Runner 2.4 Diesel in great condition. we are trying to figure out if it has been lifted,

whats the stock height? [distance from bump stop to diff .... wheel center to wheelarch ... anything will do]

What are the 'best' mods to do first up? im not familiar with 4runners but im guessing spring lift / wheels? whats the best brand of springs? i know OME make great zook springs.

What size wheels fit nicely without too much work? 33s? or smaller...

Suspension:
IFS hilux springs on the rear with extended shackles, u bolt flip, inverse mounted shocks. MMm.... no sure on the front

Brakes:
Stainless braided brake lines, V6 4runner calipers on the front

Rubber / rims:
15x8 black sunnies, 33"x12.5" muddies

Driveline:
diff breathers, lokka in the front pumpkin

Motor:
Turbo kit from the wreckers off a Surf (2L-T), 2.5" straight through zorst, Snorkel

Body:
chopped / massaged guards, tube front bar, tube slider sidesteps

Electrics:
Dual batteries, upgraded alternator, Cheap-ish spotties, UHF, MP3 ghetto blaster

that's the first things i'd do to it, wheel the shit outta it till you're ready then go bigger from there

how much lift do the IFS springs give it?

any ideas on the stock height?

sorry mate, wouldn't have a clue about stock height.

With 8" ext shackles on the back mount of IFS rear springs i'd hazard a guess at about a 2" lift... can someone else confirm?

from the chassis to the ground behind the rear wheel arch is 18-19" stock

8" extended shackles..... Are you serious???? Surely Mr Plod would notice those ones.... not exactly like 2 or 3" are they???

all ext shackles are illegal in sunny beautiful QLD...

but the 8" ext shackle is from eye to eye and mounted on about a 45' degree angle, so technicly it's about a 2.5" lift i suppose

without big-noting myself, i am the owner of this car... haha... yep me

so yeah, i bought the Runner for $3800, in immacualte condition for its age, i couldnt go passed it... i'm definately looking for new tyres/wheels for a bit more traction, especially in mud.

i measured the 'distance from the rear of the chassis, behind the wheel arch, to the ground, and it read about 20" or 21" or so... thats with a nearly full tank of fuel.... im skeptical as im not sure if it actually has been lifted, or if 'm measuring between the right parts.... but yeah... all in all... the car is mine.. haha

Easiest way with a newsed truck... chuck the old ones out and start fresh... $200 max for peice of mine knowing that it is infact lifted is nothing really, and you know your base then.

If the torsion bars won't come up, buy new ones... they're $350 which when you think about it, isn't really much either to know that they're new too.

ahh, yeah forgot to mention, its EDIT: leaf sprung, so it should be easier to lift etc..

i juts made a "Timmy's '85 Runner" in the members section thing.... on all the details that i know of etc.

...and your car doesnt float in mud.... especially drainage area mud heh.. the 'parent car' came to the rescue
