whats the wb at?
The front still isnt finished I have a few more bits bent up for it, just havent welded them on!
The wheelbase is only about 85 inches at the moment. I am stretching the front out a couple more inches as well. I dont want it too long, i think it will belly out on everything if i go too long.
because this is a very interesting mod and since mick can't take photos to save his life; i have adjusted the levels on the two sill pics. they look fawken sweet! nice work man!
Mick are you running dual shackles on the front or is it shackle reversal. Either way don't those rear shackles make a hell of a noice slapping against the frame like that in those last two pics. And what happens when you stuff the spring ie shorten the length where is that taken up, as the shackles usually handles this but in that setup it doesn't appear they will be able to. Or am I not seeing things properly

Do a search Newbie!
mickbj42 wrote:Mods will be: 1.6 Vitara engine, hilux diffs, 37 boggers, shackle reversal, shock hoops in the front, inboarded shocks in the rear, power steer and heaps of other stuff.
I realise from the original setup it was but wasn't sure if he had since gone to dual shackles as I didn't think you would set a shackle reversal like that
True, they do appear to be at full compression when sitting at ride height... Perhaps mick has bumpstopped the car to sit like this? It would definately be an easy way to get the car to sit nice and low
redzook wrote:the spring looks pretty flat i dont think the shackle will have to move back any futher only forward
could be rong though
when he compresses or flexes the spring the shackle won't allow it unless it is dead flat . If there is any increase in spring length it will eventualy break something.

It is a shackle reversal on the front. The hit the chassis but it aint too bad, i am going to make a few adjustments to help that though.
Because the springs are perfectly flat the shackle on compression and extension will always pull forward.

Does that mean that your ride hight is effectively sitting at full compression? Is it bumpstopped at that point too?
That would definatly be the easiest way to get the car to sit as low as possible all the time - though i gather it would result in a bumpy side... how does it go?
