double cardinal, which end?

Post by mattstar »

G'day all,
I have increased my wheel base and needed to get a new driveshaft, I lifted my 4b (MQ swb) at the same time so I decided to use a double cardinal joint, I got a wagon tail shaft with the cardinal joint and got it shortened, My question is;
What end, g/box or Diff, does the cardinal end of the driveshaft bolt too?
And if there is a specific end, Why?

With a cardan shaft you mount the cardan on the gearbox and then you have to point the pinion shaft on the diff to the flange on the gearbox to make it work properly, if you did it the other way you would need to point the gearbox/engine combo towards the diff, so thats why.
