oooo me friction plates ..........

Post by corkhead »

well my vb shimmed up lsd finally ran out of booze .....

looks like the constant heavy right foot has caused the vb cans to twist and stretch .... locking up the lsd and caused the friction plates to snap !!

so hopefully i can source just the friction plates/discs ...which should lead me to not having to shim the sucker again - since they will be new.

any pointers where to look later today - got a couple of numbers to try after 9am .... hopefully i can get something by tomorrow :(

heres the diff at first inspection.

not starting off good

lsd has 4 frictionplates and 4 friction discs

friction plates $160ea ... friction discs $130ea ........bullocks !! from mitsi

imlachs has centers for $440 with 6mths warranty.......

anyone else got some cheaper options ...besides welding which is becoming more viable by the minute :)

Bloody Hell. My lsd is slowly loosing is reliability so I thought about a rebuild, by what you have just said I think I might go and see if someone can make up a minispool or something (which im sure will lead to more problems down the line)

I sure cant help with a better price, hope you find one though.
Jabber gone. Now have 98 nissan terrano and a 94 4.2ldiesel rv troopy on 33s slowly getting the fancy bits. How the hell do I change my user name?

well all done, 37 degree heat - one non shimmed lsd and a tailshaft (unis were stuffed - but had spares).

tested lsd spins both wheels nicely and next to no backlash ...

happy again (apart from the wallet).

Imlachs was the cheapest i could find
