Cant comment on the strength of the auto but if you like driving manuals. You want a R series gearbox. You can find them in V6 4Runners and some surfs. I have a R151f out of a surf and it works well.

I would think that would be a little big? Will the hilux trans tunnel fit it ? Might need a body lift?

shadow with a body lift the gq box should fit.
i posted up about the strength of r series box's a while back and the feedback i got was if you treat them well they will handel it but if you drive hard they are marginal. so if you are a hard driver id do the work now rather than after you blow up a r series box

if you drive like my mum sure gothe r series............................. buggered if i kno why ud puta v8 into a car if u drive like a nanna tho :P

A340E (keep the standard auto it is a much simpler and cheaper conversion then, much much easier)

The only other thing I would look at is GQ 5 speed and transfer as they are REALLY cheap... and they are small and short, it would fit easily. The engine won't though, they are a big bastard

they fit like this and I wouldn`t use the standard auto that comes behind the 1uz. In most hard 4x4ing you`ll either blow it up or cook it, or both.

Jeez I love that engine bay Guts!!! so neat and clean!!!

As for the gearbox's....My R150F needed a rebuild when I still had the V6 in my 4Runner....The syncros flog out in them (which seems to be a bit common)....but it is holding up great so far after 2 years and about 40,000kms behind the Lexus V8.

A R series box will probably be your cheapest way out.

That was standard hilux rad, it now runs a GQ rad on the tray with the twin falcon thermo fans so the engine bay is now emptier :D

No body makes mounts for 1uz into hilux, all mounts are custom made.

both dellow http://www.dellowauto.com.au/ and Castlemaine Rod Shop http://www.rodshop.com.au/ do motor to auto`s or motor to gearboxes of different sorts.
