GQ coil spacer question.

Post by buddha »

Hey , Just bought a DX GQ patrol and it has 2" springs and what i think are factory coil spacers. I think their factory cause they hace a wedge in them for the spring to sit and their not quite a inch.
I want to get a little more room for my tyres so i got 30mm coil spacers from tough dog and thses are completely flat surface around the top.

Question is , can i put these in on top of the other spacers. Im not after huge flex, just a little more clearence, and is it safe?

If they're a rubbery shaped-to-fit-coil one then they probably are the factory ones. They're more an isolator than a "spacer" and probably no more than about 10mm thick at the thinnest point (more as the coil turns away).

If thats not what it sounds like then it's probably not a factory fitment.

the proper spacers should be shaped to fit the spring so if your tough dog spacers are flat they are probly the wrong ones or are for the rear
ive only put spacers in the front of mine and they aint flat they have a recess for the spring which tapers to suit the spring
